Charlie Hebdo, Free Speech, Terrorism & State Terrorism

france-sieges

The world has been shocked by the recent murderous terrorist attacks on media in France and Germany and on a kosher Jewish supermarket in Paris. Millions of people have rightly protested (a) the murder of innocent people and (b) the implicit attack on free speech. However the Western Mainstream media and politicians are profoundly hypocritical in their indignation because they (a) ignore 12 million Muslims killed since 1990 by violence or war-imposed deprivation in the continuing, Zionist -promoted US War on Muslims and (b) massive Western Mainstream lying by omission, censorship and constraint of free speech, including repeated French government banning of Charlie Hebdo and its predecessors.

This massive Western Mainstream hypocrisy is well illustrated by The Guardian Australia, the on-line Australian version of the UK Guardian and in some ways a quite welcome addition to the appalling Murdoch-dominated media in Australia (unlike the anti-science and effective climate change denialist Murdoch media, The Guardian Australia has quite a good record of reporting on science, environmental matters and on the worsening climate crisis). Thus immediately following the appalling French massacres, the Guardian Australia reported on the latest 15 air strikes on ISIS targets in Syria and Iraq by the US-led Coalition that includes the US, UK, France, Australia and some Arab countries (see

“US-led Coalition carries out 15 air strikes on ISIS targets in Syria and Iraq”, The Guardian Australia, 9 January 2015).

Now The Guardian Australia invites reader comments but regularly violates freedom of expression by variously censoring them. My following carefully researched, detailed and documented comment on the Coalition air strikes article was transiently published and then censored out by The Guardian Australia ostensibly for “violating “community standards”, but presumably for containing things that its presstitutes do not want their readers to read, know about or think about:

START CENSORED COMMENT. “This report reveals the asymmetry of terrorism versus Western state terrorism - at the same time as criminal non-state terrorist French citizens were killing 17 innocent people in Paris and being killed in the process, war criminal Western state terrorists operating illegally and with complete impunity in Syria and Iraq carried out 15 operations that may have killed 10 times as many people including civilians, noting that a substantial proportion of the 12 million people dying since 1990 in the US War on Muslims have been civilians dying from war-imposed deprivation (for detailed analysis see my book “Body Count. Global avoidable mortality since 1950” that includes an avoidable mortality-related history of every country and is now available for free perusal on the web).

The worst crimes of Muslim-origin non-state terrorists are those that are religiously skirted and censored by US-beholden Western media – the horrendous consequential US Alliance-imposed or complicit deaths from war and war-imposed deprivation in the post-1990 US War on Muslims (12 million), the post-2001 US War on Terror (10 million), the post-1990 Iraqi Genocide (4.6 million), the post-2001 Afghan Genocide (5.5 million), the post-1992 Somalian Genocide (2.2 million), the post-2011 Libyan Genocide (0.2 million), the post-2011 Syrian Genocide (0.2 million), and in Mali, the Central African Republic, the Yemen, Palestine, Pakistan etc. (Google “Muslim Holocaust Muslim Genocide” ).

The 1950-2005 avoidable deaths from deprivation in countries occupied by France in the post-1945 era total 142 million (727 million for British-occupied, 82 million for US-occupied, and 24 million for Apartheid Israel-occupied countries) (Google “Body Count. Global avoidable mortality since 1950”).

The US, UK, France and Apartheid Israel have invaded 70, 170, 80 and 12 countries, respectively (Google “US has invaded 70 nations – make 4 July Independence from America Day”) and are currently variously involved (and variously with Australian assistance) in killing Indigenous inhabitants of Mali, the Central African Republic, Libya, Somalia, Palestine, the Yemen, Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan or Pakistan – US state terrorism, UK state terrorism, French state terrorism , Apartheid Israeli state terrorism and Australian state terrorism and indeed a racist and genocidal “death cult” extraordinaire.” END CENSORED COMMENT.

Free speech crucial for democracy and for rational risk management that is vital for keeping our societies safe and successively involves (a) accurate information, (b) scientific analysis (this involving the critical testing of potentially falsifiable hypotheses) and (c) informed systemic change to minimize risk. Unfortunately, this rational risk management protocol is perverted by lying Western Mainstream media and politicians (presstitutes) by (a) lying by commission, lying by omission, censorship and intimidation, (b) anti-science, spin-based analysis involving the selective use of asserted facts to support a partisan position, and (c) counterproductive blame and shame, with safety-enhancing systemic change ignored, inhibition of reportage and ultimately violence and war as the worst outcomes.

In the public interest I have taken to recording Mainstream media censorship on various websites. Thus the above example of censorship by The Guardian Australia is reported on the “Censorship by The Guardian Australia “ website and a similar censorship by the middle-of-the-road Australian op-ed and commentary website Crikey has been reported on the “Censorship by Crikey (Australia“ website. However this sort of censorship and constraint on freedom of expression is widespread in the Neocon American and Zionist Imperialist (NAZI)-perverted Mainstream media of the Western Murdochracies, Lobbyocracies and Corporatocracies in which Big Money purchases people, politicians, parties, policies, public perception of reality, votes and political power. A glimpse of this Mainstream–ignored , Elephant in the Room Mainstream censorship reality can be obtained by Googling the names of websites recording such censorship e.g. “Boycott Murdoch media”, “Censorship by the BBC”, “Censorship by The Conversation”, “Mainstream media censorship”, “Mainstream media lying”, “Censorship by The Age”, “Censorship by ABC Late Night Live”, "Censorship by ABC Saturday Extra", “ABC fact-checking unit & incorrect reportage by the ABC (Australia’s BBC)”, "Censorship by The Guardian UK", "Censorship by The Guardian Australia" and “Censorship by Crikey (Australia)”.

The Guardian Australia reported the 1 million-strong rally in Paris that was led by leading figures in the US Alliance: “Here were some of the most powerful people on earth jostling for space in the Paris boulevard named after Voltaire, the French Enlightenment writer, historian and advocate of freedom of religion and speech. The leaders then set off, arm in arm, Hollande in the centre, the German chancellor, Angela Merkel, and the Palestinian leader, Mahmoud Abbas, to his left. To his right, Ibrahim Boubacar Këita, the president of Mali – where French troops intervened to push back Islamist forces in 2013 – the Israeli prime minister, Binyamin Netanyahu, and the British prime minister, David Cameron. As they marched, the crowds that lined the route broke into cheers and applause” (see “Paris anti-terror rally: all religions, ages and nations in a massive show of unity”, The Guardian Australia, 12 January 2015).

What hypocrisy by these leaders and the covering media. Thus rally-attendees Francois Hollande, Angela Merkel and David Cameron are major players in the post-1990 Muslim Holocaust and Muslim Genocide in which 12 million Muslims have been killed by violence or by violently-imposed deprivation and Western governments of the US Alliance in 2015 are variously bombing and killing Muslims from Mali to Pakistan (Google “Muslim Holocaust Muslim Genocide”). Apartheid Israeli prime minister and rally-attendee, Binyamin Netanyahu, is key figure in the ongoing Palestinian Genocide in which 2 million Indigenous Palestinians have been killed by violence (0.1 million) or by violently-imposed deprivation (1.9 million) since 1936 and of about 12.5 million Palestinians, about 6.5 million are prevented from even stepping foot in their own country, 4.3 million are held hostage without human rights in West Bank mini-Bantustan ghettoes or in the Gaza Concentration Camp, and only 7%, the adults of 1.7 million Palestinian Israelis, are permitted to vote for the government ruling all of Palestine, albeit as Third Class citizens denied even freedom of speech under Nazi-style Israeli Apartheid laws.

Nevertheless, with some notable exceptions, there has been stunning silence from the Mainstream media about the massive censorship by Western media, about the 12 million Muslim dead since 1990 from violence or war-imposed deprivation in the US War on Muslims from Mali to Pakistan, or indeed about the 2-century Muslim Holocaust and Muslim Genocide by Western imperialists and colonialists (for detailed analysis see my book “Body Count. Global avoidable mortality since 1950” that includes a history of every country since Neolithic times).

Robert Fisk, the leading UK journalist reporting on the Middle East, commented: “Algeria. Long before the identity of the murder suspects was revealed by the French police – even before I heard the names of Cherif and Said Kouachi – I muttered the word “Algeria” to myself. As soon as I heard the names and saw the faces, I said the word “Algeria” again. And then the French police said the two men were of “Algerian origin”. For Algeria remains the most painful wound within the body politic of the Republic – save, perhaps, for its continuing self-examination of Nazi occupation – and provides a fearful context for every act of Arab violence against France. The six-year Algerian war for independence, in which perhaps a million and a half Arab Muslims and many thousands of French men and women died, remains an unending and unresolved agony for both peoples. Just over half a century ago, it almost started a French civil war” (see Robert Fisk, “Charlie Hebdo: Paris attack bothers’ campaign of terror can be traced back to Algeria in 1954”, The Independent, 9 January 2015).

Pepe Escobar (author of “Empire of Chaos”) has observed that “Cui bono, then, with killing Charlie? Only those whose agenda is to demonize Islam. Not even a bunch of brainwashed fanatics would pull off the Charlie carnage to show people who accuse them of being barbarians that they are, in fact, barbarians. French intel at least has concluded that this is no underwear bomber stunt. This is a pro job. That happens to take place just a few days after France recognizes Palestinian statehood. And just a few days after General Hollande demanded the lifting of sanctions against the Russian "threat". The Masters of the Universe who pull the real levers of the Empire of Chaos are freaking out with the systemic chaos in the racket they so far had the illusion of controlling. Make no mistake - the Empire of Chaos will do what it can to exploit the post-Charlie environment - be it blowback or false flag… And yes, I am Charlie. Not only because they made us laugh; but because they were sacrificial lambs in a much nastier, gruesome, never-ending shadow play” (see Pepe Escobar, “Who profits from killing Charlie?” Asia Times., 8 January 2015).

Conclusions

Peace is the only way but silence kills and silence is complicity. Civilized people abhor both terrorism and the vastly more deadly state terrorism. Civilized people utterly condemn Muslim-origin terrorism which has killed about 2,000 Westerners in the last half century (this tally excluding 2,000 Israelis killed by Indigenous Palestinians and 3,000 mostly Americans killed in the US Government’s 9-11 false flag operation; Google “Experts: US did 9-11’) but whose most appalling crime has been to provoke the active and passive mass murder since 1990 of 12 million Muslims by Western state terrorism (US state terrorism, UK state terrorism, French state terrorism, Canadian state terrorism, German state terrorism, Apartheid Israeli state terrorism and Australian state terrorism).

French Algeria-born Literature Nobel Laureate Albert Camus in “Neither Victims nor Executioners” (1946) had a message of hope that the pen is mightier than the sword “Over the expanse of five continents throughout the coming years an endless struggle is going to be pursued between violence and friendly persuasion, a struggle in which, granted, the former has a thousand times the chances of success than that of the latter. But I have always held that, if he who bases his hopes on human nature is a fool, he who gives up in the face of circumstances is a coward. And henceforth, the only honorable course will be to stake everything on a formidable gamble: that words are more powerful than munitions.”

The people who abhor violence, war, terrorism and state terrorism must (a) inform everyone they can about the evils of censorship, human rights abuse, terrorism and state terrorism and (b) urge and apply Boycotts, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) against all those people, politicians, parties and presstitutes complicit in these atrocities.
