Dear [NAME]
American democracy, its vital signs fading away, received last Thursday, January 21st its political extreme unction from America’s highest priestly body: the United States Supreme Court. In what will turn out to be the biggest-yet landmark decision affecting an “intended government” of the people by the people and for the people, the highest court in the land decided by a ruling of 5 to 4 – clearly alongside ideological lines of both Right and Center – that money and power cannot be held back.
Of what possible significance has Sand’s comment today as America watches in utter disbelief and dismay the demise of the President of Change and Hope into an obsequious and obedient Golem of Israel, subservient to Netanyahu and Lieberman? The great Golem of Prague in the 16th century, a mythological creature created of mud by incantations of the ancient Rabbi Loew to protect the walled ghetto of the Jews, lived without a soul but at the service of the Rabbi. So now, we watch in disbelief Obama bow before the scorn of Bibi and Avigdor as they mock the great agent of change, the bringer of peace to the world, and the savior of America from the ravages of Bush.
A Classic Piece
I received the following classic piece from someone close with a very emphatic endorsement. It’s by a “Hard Working Aussie” who is a Kalgoorlie mineworker, one who doesn’t mind passing a random urine test for his job but feels that the same should be required of the people to whom the government distributes his taxes:
by Joel S. Hirschhorn Sensible, intelligent Americans are furious over the recent Supreme Court 5-to-4-decision referred to as Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission that struck down limits on corporate spending in presidential and congressional elections. Those of us who wail against the corpocracy with its corruption of government could hardly believe that this decision could in any way be justified. A major reaction has been a number of groups calling for a constitutional amendment to fix the problem.
Ynet reports:
Peres in Berlin, Netanyahu in Auschwitz, Lieberman in Budapest and Edelstein at the UN headquarters in New York all plan to attack the Goldstone report into the Gaza war on International Holocaust Day this Wednesday.
If you are sick and tired of war in the Middle East you may be cringing at the prospect of new military operations in Latin America. In case you haven't noticed, there appears to be an impending attack against the people of Venezuela. Obama is increasing the Pentagon's budget and is spending approximately one billion dollars in its Latin American military operations this year according to Eva Gollinger, a well respected American/Venezuelan journalist.
Scenes of fighting have broken out in the Haitian capital as survivors continue to have little food and water two weeks after an earthquake devastated the Caribbean island.
The US president's State of the Union address is set to focus on the economy, with the announcement of a spending freeze in certain areas of the US budget, according to the White House.
North and South Korea have reportedly exchanged artillery fire near a disputed sea border off the west coast of the peninsula.
The Australian government has said it will launch a diplomatic protest against the death sentence handed to an Australian contractor for the murder of a security guard in Afghanistan.
Germany has announced it will send 500 more troops to Afghanistan and double its development aid in a move that it hopes will set the tone for this week's London conference on the war-torn nation.
Fighting between Saudi forces and Houthi fighters on the border with Yemen has ended, Saudi officials have said.
World powers are preparing to meet in London for talks on tackling the rising threat of al-Qaeda in Yemen in the wake of a failed attempt to attack a US airliner last month.
